I think Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone together had such incredible on-screen chemistry. She manages to look experienced, naive, and calculating at the same time when she realizes he's for real. His life is gambling, he breathes it and eats it every day, and at this time, he's so confident he can change Ginger that he just bets it all on a less-than-sure thing (to say the least). First of all, it's exactly the kind of lingo Sam Rothstein would be using. GINGER: What, are you trying to handicap me?ĪCE: I'm gonna do you one better. Don't you think it's time? Aren't you gettin' tired of all this shit? Bangin' around, hustlin' around? Here's the scene, and I'm quoting from the screenplay:ĪCE: We're not getting any younger. Scorsese is totally making me see things, but I just LOVE the scene in which Sam 'Ace' Rothstein (Robert De Niro) asks Ginger (Sharon Stone) to marry him.
